I swear this will be my last newbie question.

If I buy the same size ACE stock as my orig. stock on my AR, can I use my existing spring and buffer without any complications?

Thanks.

Yes.  You don't even take the old buffer tube off.  Just pull the old stock and slide the ACE on.  Than't what I did on my Bushy and it took all of  5 minutes.  I do recomend you take a little WD40 and lube the outside of the buffer tube.  It helps slide the foam sleeve on and WD40 is what ACE recomends in their instructions.  The foam sleeve is not harmed by the WD40.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Maddog.  I just got my first AR and really dislike the orig. stock.  Also, are all springs extremely noisy when you let the slide fly?  There is a lot of clanking around noise in the stock when I tap the release.

Yes they are.  My A2 stock was very noisy.  The ACE Stock is pretty silent because of the foam cheek piece.  After installing the ACE, pull the buffer and spring out.  Lightly lube the spring and buffer with something like Mpro7, Militec, Wilson Oil, etc. and it will run very quietly.  I also use a thin film of "slide glide" on the back of the carrier that contacts the front face of the buffer.  I also use "slide glide" on the part of the carrier that contacts the upper receiver.  Slide glide is a synthetic lube developed for 1911 slides and rails.  It works great on all kinds of stuff.
