Why?  IMHO the plastic is superior. (It can't bend an jam the trigger).

www.usgunparts.com

The reason I recommend them is that the trigger guards they sell are not the shiny black ugly jobs that Rock River, DPMS and most other suppliers put out, but are the same color as the rest of your lower. They might be a buck or two more than somebody elsem but what you get will look a hell of a lot better than some of the others.

I will NOT get involved in the plastic vs metal discussion

It's a non-issue...if you prefer the metal ones, Go for it! Just be careful when you drive that roll-pin in or out...if you don;t you it right you'll snap the ear off and then you'll be SOL....

The ones I got were not shjiney they are matte black and match my Bushmasters well as far as metal trigger guards bending I have never seen it nor has the many operators using the rifle, just a scare story to mak the cheaper plastic look superior.

Armalite sells (directly from their web site) beautiful aluminum trigger guards -- and superior roll pins too.

I'm almost finished building an M4gery as a gift for my father and just installed an Oberland small parts kit as a finishing touch to the lower.

The Oberland trigger guard is a work of art:

I wouldn't bother doing this for one of mine, but I wanted something special to make his rifle a little bit different than all of the others out there.

what are the little rings for CJan_NH with the trigger guard?

IMO the hardest thing to put together is the trigger guard and pin.  i've built 4 or 5 lowers up and still havn't found an easy way to do it.
