I want to mount a Daniel Defense mid-length rail system over a 16" bbl, but leave the gas block under the handguard in the normal place.  Is this possible?  I don't want the version for the Front sight post cause i use a Troy Ind. flip up.  Can I make it work?

There are three aftermarket gas blocks that should fit under the DD.  KAC makes one, PRI makes one and there is another called the SPR gas block.

ADCO sells them all, the PRI being the most reasonably priced.

OR

You could use the pics of those gas blocks and attempt to shave your own.  Not sure what the actual risks would be with a severly shaved gas block.  None come to mind if done properly and carefully.

I am building an upper very similiar to yours and will have it done soon.  I ordered a DD 9.5 (yes a 9.5, not the 9.5 FSP but the original 9.5 - it was replaced by the DD 9.0) from ADCO and it should be here very soon.  I have a spare KAC gas block that I am using under the DD.

Good luck with your build and update us with info and pics if you can.

What gas system is on your barrel? If you have a CAR, the midlength(9.0) forend will cover the block. If you have a mid gas system, you'll need the 12.0 (rifle length) Yes, a low profile gas block will fit under a DD forend.
