I ran across these guys originally on Ebay when looking for a KAC 200 - 600 meter flip sight.  They've got a 300 meter version, but it's NOT KAC.

They've also got these mounts

The first mount looks like something I could really use for a scope that doesn't have enought mounting surface for an Armalite 1 piece mount.

They look like they'd fill a niche' for the economy minded plinker, BUT they also remind me of Airsoft products!

So are these products crap, or are they just inexpensive and less popular because they can't hold up to the abuse that ARMS mounts can, but they'd do fine for a range or varmint rifle?

Thanks

Are you sure it's not for airsofts?

I have a KAC 300M rear BUIS and a KAC Aimpoint mount and these look like almost exact copies.  And that 3rd mount looks exactly like a KAC cantilever (sp?) mount.

Even if they aren't airsoft, I've avoid them like the plague as they are copying someone else's designs.

I took a look at the website.  They have a reddot sight that looks like an Aimpoint knockoff.  But here's my favor part:

SOCCOM SPECIAL FORCES SCOPE MOUNT

SAME mount made for the special forces
MADE FOR US ARMY!!
SAME ONE USED IN IRAQ
This is an amazing mount and very well made

Yeah, I bet a lot of "SOCCOM" guys over in Iraq are using these.

they still work fine, and at 1/4th the cost

I doubt they hold up as well as the KAC originals.

Besides, it's more like 1/2-1/3 the price of new KAC stuff, but I guess you can sell at a lower price when you rip someone off.  Saves a little money in the product development phase...

I wouldn't want to buy from a company that can't come up with their own designs.

Well, I'm not a compete idiot... so I didn't fall for that part.

I'm not familiar with much KAC stuff, so I didn't realize that (other than the 300 meter flip) these were "knock-offs".  That actually would explain their "same mount" statement, as it probably is the same (same LOOKING mount anyway)  as the ones used in SOCCOM.

I'm sure they wouldn't hold up as well as the KAC stuff, but I wasn't looking for that.

I'm not keen on the whole ripping off someone else's patent just because you're made in Hong Kong though, so I guess I'll pass.

Thanks

I've seen similiar sights on Ebay that look just like GG&G flip-up rear sights for like 70 bucks.

God bless capitalism. Poor performance is one reason, protectionism is ridiculous.

I don't think you are a complete idiot, but you did fall for it.
It's Special Operations COMmand.

May God decidedly NOT bless patent infringement and the marketing and selling of patented US products produced by nations not bound by its laws.
