| I am posting this question for a friend. He has a preban AR15. It is stamped on the side of the lower receiver "Colt AR15 A2, Cal .223 Sporter II". It has a standard small rear pushpin. But the front is attached with a large slotted screw on each side. It has an A1 length buttstock and an A1 rear sight. He wants to buy a flattop carbine length upper that he can swap in and out for the 20" fixed carry handle upper he has now. What are his options that are compatable with the pin setup on his rifle? Thanks! |
| If I am not mistaken there are conversion kits out there to change your friends large pin lower to a small pin. Check with bushmaster's website, I think it's called an offset pin or something like that and should cost about $6. That way he can put any upper on it that he wants. |

Msokol13 is correct. For just a few bucks you can buy an adapter pin. Your friend has what is refered to as a "large hole" lower. All the currently offered flat-top uppers are of the standard or small hole uppers. Do a google for Daniel Defense. At one time they offered large hole flat top uppers. But the price was around $300 for a stripped upper. And that's cheaper than a Colt upper, if you can find one. Colt made a few but not many. |
