I currently own a Bushy and am thinking very hard about building a RRA... However, with DPMS just down the road from me, I've gotta ask... Comparable to the Bushy or RRA?

Ahh.......not quite.

I'd put my Bushies neck & neck with my RRA.  Few things nicer on the RRA (little tighter upper/lower fit), few things not as nice (some machining where it doesn't matter)

My DPMS just seems a 1/2 notch down, but a good rifle none the less.

I'm pretty fond of RRA, so I got to say....no.  I do own several of the DPMS magazine base plates and they are flawless.

I have a RRA upper on a DPMS lower and the fit is solid! No play what-so-ever. The finish is practically identical. Im very pleased with my first build. Now if only the damn RASII kits would ship I could take my rifle shooting.

I actually chose my DPMS over Bushmaster.

I am more concerned about being able to disassemble my ar in the field, without tools, than I am about a tight fit between the upper and lower. I am lucky as I have some uppers and lowers that fit together well, but I can push the takedown and pivot pins out with my fingers. The ar15/m16 was origonally designed to be field stripped and zeroed with nothing more than an M193 cartridge. I try to retain as much of THAT mil-spec as I can.

DPMS, RRA, Bushie, Armalite, Oly, Mega/Stinger, ASA, Colt and still others...in no particular order.

I think my DPMS stacks up against my Bushy no problem..

DPMS doesn't use 4150 barrel steel, they use the cheaper 4140

DPMS doesn't have the chromelined bore or chamber

Hence, it's not an equal to Bushmaster

DPMS does have some optional chrome lined barrels now.

The exception to this rule are special run DPMS uppers that are being made for CMMG.

These uppers have M4 feedramps the barrels are made with 4150 steel, 5.56 NATO chambers, chrome lined chamber and bore and come in 1/7 twist.

They do have cast front sight base.  This front sight was also inspected by Adco and their machinist and they said it was good to go and there was no need to swap it with a forged one.

All that being said the only DPMS stuff I would ever buy would be from CMMG...[BD]

I have a few DPMS rifles & have been very happy with them.  If you're that close, you should have no problem getting them to configure it exactly as you want it (not that you won't still have to wait a while if it's not a routine item/configuration).

If DPMS is near by, you may want to go with them just because if the rifle is less than perfect, getting satisfaction from the factory should be easier.  I find shipping stuff back and forth to fix problems a pain in the neck.  And all AR15 manufacturers have their share of problems from time to time.
