[ARCHIVED THREAD] - A2 Flash Supressor

In the technical manual it calls the A2 flash supressor a "compensator."

So witch is it? Flash supressor? Compensator? Both?

It's both. The closed bottom and open slots on top vent gas upward and help keep the muzzle down, it also suppresses flash. Not as well as a purpose built flash suppressor, but you know what they say about jack of all trades..
