I am looking into getting an EOTech and in there info it says good for co-witnesing. What does that mean(using 2 sights?) and what is the advantage of doing this.
Thanks

Hi skeeter65,

Co-witnessing means that when you flip-up your iron sights and line-up your eye, the center red dot will sit exactly on the front sight post.

I have an EOTech 511 and it's great.  Its mounted right on my Bushy flattop and co-witnesses perfectly with my GG&G BUIS.

Here's mine:

It's beneficial if your optic fails

all you have to do is drop your line of sight 1/4"

You've got a lot of good answers so far...

Another benefit of co-wintnessing irons and optics is the ability both at the same time and switch between them in various lighting conditions.  Especially when going from a dimly lit area to an extremely well lit area you may not have time to mess with the brightness settings on your optic and you can transisiton quickly to irons as needed.
