I've heard that Bushmaster pre-bans were never cut to accept M-16 full auto parts. Is this true?

Bushmaster is a perfect host for RDIAS. It accepts all the necessary M16 parts. Obviously it does not accept the M16 autosear.

Exactly. Great for use with a Registered Drop In Auto Sear, but they weren't machined for M16 autosears.
