I just wanted to thank you guys for all the great info here and show a pic of my first AR. I've been lurking for about a month and finally got all the knowledge and parts needed to put it together. I built the carbine using an Eagle Arms lower from Quantico Arms and a pre-assembled Rock River upper from Adco Firearms. The lower is full of Rock River internals also from Adco. The Falcon Ergo grip came from Brownells. Using the assembly instructions from here, the lower was super easy to build. All the parts fit perfectly, there were no surprises. Even with taking my time and being exceptionally careful, I put it together in about two hours last night. The lower and upper fit together very tightly and I think the finishes even look very close after I oiled them both with FP-10. I'm extremely pleased with it. I took it to the range this morning to function test and sight in, shooting 60 rounds of Federal XM193. Even though it was snowing, windy and very cold, the carbine functioned perfectly. Using the Improved Battlesight Zero method, all I needed to do to get it sighted in was one click down and one click to the right. I'll go poke around some more now to get ideas about what to build on my other lower. Here's a pic of the rifle with it's Arch Nemesis, the SAR1:

Thanks for the welcome guys! [:)] Quoted: Where did you get the stock for the SAR 1 ? Been thinking of getting one for mine. They are getting harder to find anymore. I'm still seeing a lot of them at the gunshows though. Especially the real cool looking laminate ones. Just watch out for canted sights and gas blocks on them. Make sure everything is nice and straight before laying down the hard earned cash. |
