I got my RRA A2 complete lower half today. I was supposed to get the upper as well, but UPS is sitting on it in NC due to adverse weather. Anyway, I have some questions about it. Do I need to clean it any particular way prior to shooting? Most of my parkarized guns, I saturate with FP-10 (CLP) and let them sit for a few minutes before wiping them down. Is this ok (or needed) for the AR? Also, about the two pins that connect the upper and lower, my FFL pulled the front pin out to show me how it works, but I can't get it back in. Can I just use a paperclip to push down the little pin holding it? And the rear pin is so tight, I can't budge it. Is this normal? I guess I need to know the proper way to mess with these two pins. Last question (for now). About my magazine, I ordered a NIW Labelle 30rnd with the Teflon coating and a green follower. It is supposed to be a mid 90's manufacture. Do I need to replace the spring or anything? It feels pretty stout. And, can I treat the metal mag body the same way I do parkarized guns? The spring? Thanks for the help. |
| I think you should be fine soaking the outside of your rifle but don't soak the inside where the action is. A paper clip should be fine to get your pin reinstalled. The mags that you have I wouldn't touch them. Ok to use FP 10 on the outside and very lightly oil the inside. Too much oil will harbor dust and other unwanted intruders into your action and you mags. |
