Are Pre ban and Post ban AR15 magazines the same?

Supposed "Leagally" any mag. with ten rnds. or less is post ban.  Any mag. that holds more than ten is preban.  A gray area at the very least. That is why when you buy a new gun/rifle, the manufacturer supplies only  ten round mags.
Buying extra mags. for a postban gun has been disgused here many times before.  Mags.with more than 10 rnds., in a post ban gun, is the gray area.

there's no 'gray area' at all, it is perfectly legal to have 20 and 30 round mags in you post-ban AR, as long as the mags were made before 1994 [:)]

OK Here's the skinny.  Mags made before September 13th 1994 are pre ban.  After Sept 1994, it became illegal for manufacturers to make magazines that hold more than 10 rounds to be sold to the general public.  That's why +10 capacity mags are stamped with "Restricted: For Gov't or LEO Use Only."

It is perfectly legal for you to own and use a pre ban mag EVEN if you are using a Post ban weapon.  (at least at this time::knock wood::)
