Here's my problem... I've got an A2-style 20" AR.  While sighting the rifle with one of the 25M zeroing targets I had to really adjust the elevation on the front sight post.  I had to turn it up so high that the top of the post is nearly even with the top of the ears of the front sight.  I've never had to adjust one much more than a few clicks from mechanical zero. Windage was a snap, dialed right in.  The rifle groups very nicely and is zeroed for 300M now.  I'm just concerned about the front sight adjustment.   Was the upper not properly boresighted at the factory?  Should I buy a taller front sight post?  Any info would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

That is an odd one.  I won't insult you by suggesting that perhaps you didn't have the rear sight bottomed out far enough.

What kind of rifle is this?  Bushmaster put out a run of mis-indexed barrels a while back, but those were shooting way to the left or right.  I don't know if mis-indexing could also cause it to shoot way high or low.  Longer front sight posts are available, but you shouldn't need them.  Maybe a little more info about the rifle would help someone form an opinion.

You might also want to try posting this in the troubleshooting section.

The rifle is a Bushmaster, A2-style 20" bbl.  I thought I'd see what some other folks had to say about it and if there were any similar situations.  If all else fails, I'll get ahold of Bushmaster.  I had the rear sight bottomed out when I zeroed it and other than the front sight being high, the rifle really does shoot and group quite well.
