Just aquired a new ARMS SIR and I was just wondering how much the SIR will through off my ACOG.

ARMS 45 C
TA11
ARMS 19S mount

Not enough to notice. The nit pickers here will grip about the 1/2 inch that it raises the ACOG but I dought anyone really notices. The nose-to-charging handle guys grip too, but I never shot that way to begin with.

This is how I had my ACOG mounted for several years. I never had a problem hitting what I wanted where I wanted, even at three yards.

This is how I have my rifle set up now. No issues with the ACOG caused by the SIR.

Luckystiff,

what kind of sling do you have on your SIR equiped AR?

In that pic it is just a standard AR-15/M16 sling. It now has a http://www.slingsystem.com/ sling on it like the M4 on top.

Please see the The Big ACOG BDC Chart and learn how to zero your ACOG almost anywhere you want and match the scopes ballistically callibrated reticle.

I shoot nose to charging handle, and I find that an ACOG, 19s, SIR combo to be perfect for me.

Also, thanks to new_arguy's 600yd shooting work, it looks like the 73gr. Berger LTB might have some great potential for ACOG users, especially TA11/SIR/16" combos.

new_arguy has been kind enough to do some long range testing in Florida and I am going to do some 100-300 and possibly up to 500yd testing here in Texas.

If you come from a bolt gun back ground and like rock solid low cheek weld you wont like it, if not... you will never notice the difference.  The amount it throws off your BDC is minor.  Your barrel length and ammo used has much more of an impact.
