Would you have any idea what kind of steel are used in barrels of licensed manufacturers of COLT( Standard Chartered of Singapore and ELISCO of the Philippines). I think only COLT and Bushmaster are using 4150 steel on their barrels. The other manufacturers are using only 4140. Can 4140 barrels be used on full auto?

Can't address what off-shore people are doing with respect to material selection for barrels, but the government drawing for the 20" M16 barrel (p/n 9349054) specifies that the barrel material will be Chrome-Moly-Vanadium per Mil-S-11595.  This spec has been superceeded by Mil-B-11595E(MR).  This spec is for ORD 4150 steel alloy which can be "blended" three different ways with slightly different percentages of alloying elements for each.  The barrel material specified on the M16 drawing is pretty explicit about the vanadium component (0.2% to 0.3%).  The other 2 alloys cited in the spec contain no vanadium.

There is very little difference in the properties of the two materials and should not pose a problem during full-auto firing when using a barrel made of 4140 verses 4150.
