I know this may seem like a dumb question but thank for the help. What features make a AR15 a ,  M4 variant ? Barrel lenght, stock typ?
I have a Bushmsster with a 14.5 and mini comp
full size stock and the upper is a flat top.
Is that considered a M4? Thanks again.

The primary feature is the barrel, which is turned down thin under the handguards and has the notch in front of the front sight block to allow mounting of an M203.

A "true" M4 upper will have a 14.5" 1:7 chrome-lined 4150 steel barrel, a flattop upper receiver, extended feed ramps, and a side-sling adapter (though this may be removed if you are using railed handguards).  Obviously, to remain a Title-1 gun, an extended-length flash suppressor must be permanently attached to bring the legal barrel length out past 16".
