Let me get this straight... AWB (1994 Crime Bill)- Federal ban on the new manufacture of detachable mag semi-auto rifles possessing more than 2 of 5 evil Federal-defined features. CA (SB23 2000)- Kalif ban/registration on the possession of any detachable mag semi-auto rifle possessing any 1 of 6 evil Kalifornia-defined features. A Kalifornia resident who owns a legally REGISTERED "post-ban" would be able to install "pre-ban" features once the federal AWB sunsets WITHOUT violating SB23. Am I wrong here??? |

A Kalifornia resident who owns a legally REGISTERED "post-ban" would be able to install "pre-ban" features once the federal AWB sunsets WITHOUT violating SB23. Am I wrong here??? I say you're right ! [smoke] I've heard some dissagree, but their arguments don't hold up. The key is that it's registered KZ |

Quoted: Don't count on it. Sounds like a ticket to jail to me. Otherwise the peasants of DC would be able to own handguns and post-bans. What does DC have to do with CA SB23 ? It is LEGAL to own handguns, post-bans and even pre-bans IN CALIFORNIA. In California, AR's (pre and post ban) were banned for SALE as of 08/16/2000. All AR's (regardless of pre and post ban) had to be registered for LEGAL possession by 2001. |

Quoted: The sunset of the federal AWB will do nothing for us poor souls in the PRK. NEW ones will not be sold or transfered as per SB23. However, those of us already possessing LEGALLY REGISTERED "Assault Weapons" should be able to put flash hiders and collapsible stocks IF the federal AWB sunsets. I can't see why not. |
|
I told you they would'nt hold water. [:D] Quoted: The sunset of the federal AWB will do nothing for us poor souls in the PRK. The CA AWB is free standing, and will not be affected. Our only hope is that the Fed. courts will somehow rule the CA AWB ban illegal, or Ahhnold can get it repealed. Explain please. [:(!] If your CA. AW is registered to you in CA., than you can make any mods that don't brake CA., or fed. law. After the ban sunsets, those mods will not brake CA., or fed laws. |
|
Quoted: IF AND WHEN the ban sunsets, Stormsurge has it right, "IF AND WHEN THE BAN SETS" Hopefully everyone is doing their part and writing, calling, and faxing their representatives to get the "ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN" removed. There are no guarantees other than death and taxes. As for us here in PRK as long as weall have are "legally registered assault weapons" there will be no such thing as post or pre. |

Quoted: Quoted: Our only hope is that the Fed. courts will somehow rule the CA AWB ban illegal, or Ahhnold can get it repealed. Neither will happen. If you don't already have an "Assault Weapon" in Kalifornia, you never will in Kalifornia. What he said. A large number of PRK gun owners are not fortunate enough to own an assault weapon, so we are SOOL[>(]. You lucky few may be able to reap rewards from the sunset, but not the other 99.8% of us. Now i'm gonna go kiss my Mini-14 good night and dream about RRA and Bushmaster[|)]. |
|
Quoted: IF AND WHEN the ban sunsets, I will put collapsible stocks on ALL my AR's, even though I don't really like them! The REBELLIOUS SPIRIT lives on here in California! How about a preban LR300 upper, and folding stock by ZM Weapons on your, what used to be postban lower !! [jump] |

I wish people would read the opening post carefully before replying. The answer is "yes" you will be able to mod your post-ban rifles w/collapsible stocks, flash-hiders, etc. IF the AWB is not renewed. Once the rest of the country can do it, so can the PRK. AR series are already considered AW's so you can't make them any more EVIL than they already are (unless you're talking full-auto.) Now of course this will only apply to AWs that were REGISTERED in time in the PRK. When they changed the PRK law back in 1999/2000 they stated that any rifle with 1 or more evil features was an AW. Keyword here is "or more". So you have "1" on it now and after Sept. 2004 you just convert to the "or more" category. F.A.S. Out |

Quoted: I wish people would read the opening post carefully before replying. The answer is "yes" For all of us that read the opening post. The question was "Am I wrong her???" So an answer with a yes is a incorrect answer. F.A.S. if you took the time to read the thread a little better you would have seen the question got answered. Next time lets cut some slack and not get so literal. |

Guys, I too live in a state with it's own AW ban (it mirrors the federal ban almost word for word), so I won't directly benefit from the death of the nation wide ban either. BUT... just because I won't directly benefit from the Federal AW ban expiring, it doesn’t mean that I shouldn't hold up my end in this struggle to preserve & restore our birthright as free Americans! Carpe Diem!!! Excellent thread. I went ahead and linked to it at another forum. The quote above also makes a good point. If we want to keep losing our Second Amendment rights I guess we can do nothing and secrely hord our guns, or we can fight the good fight. Lets roll up our sleeves and start fighting. OOps I mean writing. |
