Was the military heavy barrel M4 a one time thing, or is it current production now? Also I can't remember how that barrel profile compares to say a Bushmaster heavy 14.5 barrel? At one time someone posted pictures of the M4heavy vs std M4 barrel. Any one still have those pictures? Thanks M4-AK |

The heavier barrel is used on some M4A1 carbines (A1s have AUTO FC parts, where the standard M4 is only BURST), because some SF troops like to pretend that their M4A1s are really SAWs, and fire high volumes of full-auto through them. The "heavy" M4 barrel is kind of a medium-profile barrel; it isn't as thick as a common commercial HBAR. M4s, and many/most M4A1s still use the standard M4 profile. -Troy |
