Is $940.00 a fair price for a Bushmaster A3 Shorty?  My favorite gun shop just received one, and it is the model I decided I'm going to buy.  I like to support my local Mom and Pop, but if the price is out of line, I'll look elsewhere.  BTW, I'm in SE Michigan .....

For those of you who recently purchased this same model, what did you pay?

For a local shop I guess thats about right. In my area I've seen the same weapon run from $855 - mid $900 . The low end prices were at gun shows . See if cash will get you a better price . Who knows it might get some off. Good Luck

I'm in SW Michigan, I asked around and found a Bushmaster Dissipator from a private FFL dealer--$825 out the door, all taxes, transfers etc inclusive.  He obviously gets special dealer pricing and can extend that to you.

check out this link and get a few FFL dealers around you and ask around--they will usually do it for cost plus 10-15%

Suggest you look at www.ozarkguns.com

They have both Bushmaster and Armalite with excellent prices.  I fully understand about giving business to local dealers, but the owner at Ozark is a vet and offers great prices.

Good Luck.

If we're talking about new Postbans here-
There's a couple new Bushmaster A3 Shortys for sale in the gunstore just down the road from me. They are asking $780 for them. Actually, I believe it is $784, or similar.

That $940 sounds more like the MSRP prices found on the Bushmaster website and catalogs. The dealer may have just used that figure thinking it would still sell in your area.

The prices I'm quoting are from "The Sportsmans Warehouse" store, here in St. Cloud, MN. I know, because I just purchased a new A2 16" shorty there a couple days ago. I also have a 'Superlight' barrel on order through Bushmaster. Can't wait to get it all together.

We now have 3 major businesses competing within a 1-mile area here; Sportmans Warehouse, Gander Mountain, and Scheels Sporting Goods. Firearms prices here have taken a drastic drop in the last couple years.

Hope this helps.

Depending on how far you are from Columbus, Ohio, you might want to make the trip hear and pay $819 at my local gunstore.  They're running a sale until May 17th.  IM me if you want specifics.

BigJ, you mean Vances? I saw the same one as you did today, but I was looking for a Bushy carbine which they did not have. And the one for $819 I believe is an Olympic Arms w/ scope.

Almost a thousand dollars for a post ban AR?  No, I think that is too high for what you are getting.  Shop around a little and you can get a preban for not much more.

If you are in love with that gun and it is exactly how you need your AR15 to be, I guess you could offer a lower price, but that just seems way high to me.

I picked up a new/ unfired preban Olympic Arms last year for $750.

There is a Cost +10% Gun Store where I live and my A2 Bushmaster Shorty was $724 plus tax. A3 at same place was $780 plus tax. Both are HBAR plain muzzle rifles with standard stock.

I can get a V Match A3 16" Carbine for $795.

This has a freefloat forearm but no carry handle.

After tricking out the FCG and putting on a sling, scope, sling stud & Harris bipod I'm still not up to what that shop wants to charge you for a box-stock model!

They're up to $950 here average so it's a fair price but not a great deal.
