Hey everybody, I,ve been skiming over your fourum awile now and there is alot of interesting info. here which has awnsered quite abit of my questions. I'm planing on building a AR-15 over about a year or so and have a few (bunch) of questions. Ok, first off, would it be a good idea to get a lower asimbly before the "assault weapon" ban sunset just incase any new legislation comes into effect or is it pretty confident to say that no "new" laws will be made? Also on a similar note if the sunset passes and nothing else is done will the post-ban lower recievers be legal to put pre-ban items on it? When I buy my parts should I only purchace top quality expensive things or will most any part work equaly the same (like for bolt asimblies, and uppers, and lowers)? The reason I ask is because right now I kind of have a tight budget. With that said does anybody have any links to site with "cheaper" AR parts? And also where do all the old post go on this fourum, I'm really interested in reading more here.
thanks,   sory for all the questions. :)

First, welcome... as far as lowers and legislation go, I'd have a lower or five... just in case... [;)]

What will or won't be legal depending on the ban being renewed or not is the 64 dollar question right now... plan for the worst and hope and work for the best...

Parts... you get what you pay for.  Some folks seem to come out OK with the cheaper parts, some cry the 'out-of-spec blues'... caveat emptor... The price difference between the cheap stuff and Bushmaster parts isn't that great...

i don't think so.  you may hadge your bet butpres Bush will not sign any anigun legislation.

yep!

take a good look at the rock river ARs gun show price is about 650.  i don't think you will find a better deal and RR is good quality.

part's?  if this is your first AR i wouldnt advise you build one from parts.  it's expensive and may not work.  then you have to spend a lot of money to get a gun smith to fix it. an 800 dollar rifle will end up costing you 1200.
