2. These poor men!
Caught between the devil and a hard place. No matter what you think of their leader, these guys went out one day to try to defend their country, just like we would if someone came here to force a regime change. If they help us, there will be other Iraqis who will not forget that. If they fight us, there will be other Iraqis who will not forget that.
I hate this! God, I hate this!!!

I don't believe a damn thing on the DU state.  You can get a picture and make up a bunch of bull for propaganda purposes.

If they were Iraqi troops wearing civilian clothes, even over their uniforms, then it would be quite legal for them to have been executed.

All of youe take a good look.

Their are bullet holes all over the bus right? And even the upper windows have holes in them. The ones below them have been knocked out. Why you ask. To shoot. Remember, Repub gaurd in civis. Taking a bus to move a handful of terrorists around is not a stretch by any means.

Check the one guys belt, the guy closest, it sure looks OD green to me.

They could have already been dead as well. The one guys belt is undone as if he was searched and dragged accross the ground.

The marks on th ground could have been drag marks as well. The marks to the left look as though they were tires spinning. The foot traffic around them could be anyones...

Fuck Em!

Fuck the DU. They don't no shit about what's going on in this picture or what happened beforehand. They might have been defectors who were executed by other Iraqis. They might have been Iraqis rising up against Saddam. They might not of been executed at all-they might have been killed in combat. Unlike most of our enemies, we have the skills and rifles to shoot enemies in the head during a firefight. If they were killed in combat, our Marines would have quickly removed the weapons from their bodies after the fight.

There was an earlier news report about some Iraqi's that tried or did ram a bus into the side of one of our tanks during the sand storm. This is most likely it.

No, that bus collected a 120mm HEAT round, so it would not be in this condition.

Ok, here's what I don't get. Someone took this photo! Someone who was there. To top it off, he had means to publish it into mass media. So where's his (or her) version of events? WHay all this speculation?

All i see is one guy in army pants laying face down with a probable torso/abdominal injury, a few other guys laying face down, a bunch of Marines and one bus with bullet holes all over it.

I do not believe for one second US Marines would have done what they on the web site are saying. There are no close-ups of the Marines, they could be Iraqi's in US uniforms.
Iraqi's have been massacring there own citizens for years, a picure of it shows up and automatically we are the ones doing it!?
When I was in Desrt Storm we were at the town of Al Nasryiah. We were there disarming military groups coming through the checkpoint we set up(Aco. 3/505 82nd ABN). There was a man whom I gave some cigarretes and he told me they dragged him and his family outside of his house and doused his grandfather with gasoline until he would fight for Saddams regime. I think this is a typical story for Iraq.
Who cares if the war is for world stabilization of oil prices and supply or not, the Iraqi people WILL BE FREED and just maybe a lightpost of civilization will be established in the Middle East. Let the DU say what they want, they are in their own little world and don't want to leave it. They think all the evil in the world is in this country and everyone else is an innocent victim. Those poor terrorists crashing their airplanes into our evil capitalist buildings. What BULLSHIT!
The comment I read about our unelected leader, that infuriates me even more. If Gore would have one by 20 votes that would have been OK? That would have been a true picture of Democracy? The funniest part about them is that they would never admit that this is one of about ten countires you could stand up and say those things.
I have about 15 more pounds to lose until I can get back into the Reserves. My old unit is Civil Affairs and on their way. If I can get in fairly quick I can join them.
So I say SEMPER FI MARINES! HOOHAH AIRBORNE! Show them them what the greatest army in the world can do, fighting for the best reason man has ever developed, Freedom.
Freedom for you and your family to go to sleep at night not in fear. To drive your kids to school and go to work not in fear. We are America, we will prevail! Not because of our superpower strength but because of the ideas in which enrich our daily lives. Freedom to speak, right to keep and bare arms, and to worship as we choose.

The liberals still can't grasp the "embedded media" concept.  There are reporters out in the field WITH our forces.  Every account I have heard from these reporters has had nothing but great things to say about the performance of our troops.  The liberals have lost the conspiracy in their lives.  They still need to portray the government and military as some big evil monster that lies to the public.  EVEN NOW THAT THE MEDIA IS IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL!  As is typical of their lot, facts don't seem to matter.  If it were a problem, the reporter that took the pic would get on his video cell phone and do the story.  Unbelievable.

The picture says nothing.

There're no picture of a marine actually shooting at them or executing them?
This could be an event after or they discover the bus with all these bodies around.

[#22]
on msn they showed the bus. they said it had a whole load of irregulars who fired from the bus at a bradley when ordered to stop. the marines (they even said the unit and who the embed was) then opened up with a a heavy machine gun till the bus stopped moving.

i cant find the story anymore it was from a few days agobut i was admiring what ma duece can do to a tour bus.

the sad part is that the morons that are labelling it an execution will get all the morons believing it but not a peep about the american and british soldier with powdermarks between the eyes.

These people were killed by their own soldiers.  If they dont fight they get shot.  It was on the wire earlier today that marines had come across iraqi soldiers that were shot in the back of the head.  Saddams cowards are also killing their families along with the men when they dont fight.  This is widely known and is part of the reason we have so many reporters over in iraq.

Just my opinion: killem all and let Allah sort em out. Would not blame our guys for doing some bad things, but don't believe that our troops are shooting anyone but people who are considered a threat. If a civilian has a gun, you can shoot him/her (if no uniform is worn)on the spot.

The caption I saw had the bus rolling toward US positions and not stopping so they shot it up, these dead ones were in there but did not escape once it was stopped.

Wouldn’t the Marines police up the enemy’s weapons after a fight?

The photo shows US soldiers searching the site, nothing more.  How the Iraqi soldiers ended up that way is speculative without first hand information.  Whether they were shot by their own people, or US soldiers engaged to take out a threat.  Bottom line they were not executed.

Take a look in todays USA Today (front page). Here is the caption under the picture; Quote- Central Iraq: Slain Iraqi soldiers believed to be from the Republican Guard lie near a bus that U.S. Marines riddled with cannon and machinegun fire in Qal'at Sukkar. At least 20 Iraqis, wearing a mixture of military and civillian clothing, were killed in the incident. Un-Quote

1. The battlefield is not a crime scene.  Nobody is obligated to leave weapons lying around for the photographers.

2. The corpses in the picture are both wearing military pants, military boots, and civilian undershirts.  Are all Iraqi soldiers issued army underwear?  Maybe the air conditioning wasn't working on the bus?  Who knows.

3. There is a big pile of OD green clothing lying beside the bus.  The dead mens combat shirts could be in that pile.

4. Whether its a dead American, or a dead Iraqi, a head wound does not imply an execution.  It simply means that someone got shot in the head.

5. A picture like this says more about the people interpreting it than it does about what actually happened there.

In this modern military we see that most infantry small arms have some kind of optics on them-ACOG, Reflex, Eotech, Aimpoint.  Now we have Marine Corps Designated Marksman rifles and Army SPR rilfes in regular line units, not mentioning the countless sniper rifles employed by all.

With all of these optics on just about every small arm I would HOPE to see a few headshots-especially on a stationary target like a bus with people shooting out the windows.

Are those bullet holes in the windows and side of that bus?

I'm don't think the picture is even appropriate to even post (link is another matter). When you post a picture you're inviting all sorts of speculation (especially pictures of dead bodies). Did the marines execute them? or where they dead already? or they were killed in a firefight and the bodies were left there already? This forum is for firearms discussion and I'm glad that our Constitution grants us the right of free speech among the many great liberties afforded to us by our Constitution. Only the person who was there to take the picture and knew exactly what were the circumstances of the dead bodies should have any say on this picture or posting it with some sort of caption explanation. I was in a similar forum and someone else also posted dead body pics and the majority of the members and moderators thought it did not belong there. I don't need anybody seeing our Marines next to dead bodies and then someone says we probably executed them. The anti-gun, anti-war liberals don't need any extra ammunition to start slandering our troops. Just me .02 Stan
