If only I'd known of such a thing when I was learning to shoot.  As I've gotten older, it's becoming more and more apparent that this is affecting my ability to be consistent.

I know that most people only associate CD with pistol shooting, but it affects me whenever I use an optic system as well, especially magnified scopes.  I have to close my left eye (I'm right handed) to force the right eye to "take over".

1) Does anyone have any suggestions as to ways I can re-train my right eye to become the dominant one?  I know that range time is a must, but are there exercises that I can perform to better maximize my efforts?

2) Does anyone have a recommendation on a good optic system that might help with cross dominance?  I've had some success with a friend's Armson Prodot, but it offers neither magnification nor that "it'll take a lickin'
feeling.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

While I do not have a lot of experience with use of red dot type optics by cross-eye-dominant shooters, I have done a lot of work with these folks using handguns and shotguns. Frankly, I know of no one who has been successful at "retraining" their dominant eye, but that does not mean it has not or cannot be done by a determined individual. In a training environment, you need quick solutions, and this would not be quick or easy. For iron-sight/long gun use, we found it best for most shooters to retrain themselves to shoot from the dominant side/dominant eye. This may be awkward at first, but it beats changing eyes under the stress of a serious encounter and perhaps missing the only shot you get. (There are, of course, "artificial" solutions such as taping completely over the dominant-eye side of a pair of shooting glasses so you can see only with the "weak" eye, but do not have to close the dominant eye. This stuff is no good for real use, though.)

Perhaps something like the BAC/ACOGs would be good since you can shoot them with both eyes open, but they are pretty expensive for just a try-out. Maybe you could find someone local with a TA31 to try?

Good Luck
