| what do you us to test ammo to make sure it is in spec. |
| Well, it depends on what spec. you are checking for. To check that the round is loaded to the expected velocity, you need to fire the round through a chronograph. If you are checking to make sure that the rounds will chamber in the rifle, a case gage comes in handy. This is a steel cylinder with a hole through the center that has been cut with a chambering reamer. If the rounds fall into the case gage, they should chamber OK in your rifle assuming your rifle has a chamber cut to standard dimensions. If you wanted to check the bullets for the desired weight, you would need to pull the bullet and weight it on a scale. If you want to test for accuracy, you need to shoot the ammo on paper from a solid rest. |
