Received my first AR kit (as well as first AR) from J&T, and I have to agree, it's as advertised.  I finished building the lower, and when trying to fit the top on, found out I made a dumbass mistake.

In reading the Lower Assembly instructions, I installed the pivot pin, and am now stuck here, staring at my lower, trying to figure out how the hell I'm going to get the pin out, since it has a spring and pin holding it in place.

Any help from you more knowledgable forum members would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
JJ

If you installed the front/rear takedown pins correctly, then the pins are just tight and can be drifted back open.

Use a plastic punch and just punch the pins back open.

Note: The detents pins are still sharp and their hold in the take down pins detent slots is very strong until the pins/slots wear in a bit.

Use a plastic mallet or a piece of hardwood to push the takedown pins to the right. The small detent pins and springs you mentioned are to keep the takedown pins from sliding out and lock them in place when the upper is installed. When you get the pins to slide, push them back and forth several times to break them in some. Lube as required.
