My M17 has a star shaped locking lug at the end of the bolt, and a same shaped cutout at the back of the chamber. (Convinient huh?) Is it normal for the shells to slide up the two lower legs of the cutout (as they leave the magazine) and be directed into the chamber by them? I wound up developing a copper stripe in each of the two bottom grooves after a quick 30 round tst fire. They cleaned up easily enough and might just be caused my the ammo I was using. I was wondering if the 30rd preban might be sitting too low, or if this is a symptom of something other then soft copper on cheap FMJ ammo.
Thanks,
Rusty

If I understand what you are saying corectly. Yes this is completely normal the groves you described are called feeding ramps. Their are two becaus the stagared mag feeds from two positions.

Thanks, that's what I thought, I just wanted to make sure I understood the principal correctly. It makes sense, but sometimes things that make sense aren't always correct.
