I am going to be making my first ar-15 purchase. I am looking at a Colt Match/Target/Comp HBAR 20" or a Bushy XM15 E2S A3 20". I am not looking for a brand war here. I am looking for the pro and cons for each; like fit and finish, accuracy and trigger. I will be shooting 55 grain ammo. Which twist rate should I look for? thanks, Dave |
| I like the 1/7, or the 1/9 twist for heavyer bullets, as target shooting is just a practice thing for hunting, or combat. I have 2 colt, & no bushys. I love my Colt pre-b's but I've read that the posties arent as nice. I dont have a posty Colt, but they must be pretty decent. Colt also isnt made to milspecs, so alot of folks dont like that part of them, while Bushys are milspec. I have handled several Bushys, & found the quality to be quite nice. I havent shot one though. Hope this helps you some. |

I love my 20" A3. It shoots closer than I can hold it with good ammo. I bought an ARMALITE scope mount, and I'm pleased with it. The iron sights are dead-on with ball ammo, and the scope is set for 45 gr JHP. When I bought mine last year, we looked at COLT, ARMALITE, and BUSHMASTER. The ARMALITE was the nicest-finished of the three, but he didn't have a 20" one in stock, and I wanted a 20", so I didn't get the ARMALITE. The COLT had some a few machining marks, it wasn't mil-spec in the trigger, and the bolt wasn't as beefy as the BUSHMASTER, so I didn't get the COLT. So I ended up with my BUSHMASTER, and haven't been dissappointed. I bought the USMC book on it, and some 30 round USGI magazines. Just for good measure, I bought green followers from CDNN and upgraded them before I even shot some of them. Now, I want another one! Something lighter, and racier than the 20" HBAR! |
