You guys are the life blood of this website and I need your input in order to make this place a happy one.

I have noticed a few OT threads about firearms that are NOT AR15s. The general AR discussion board is for ANYTHING related to AR type rifles, including; politics, ammo, accessories, where to buy a rifle, how to set it up and many other topics. Although there are BETTER forums on this site to ask AR specific questions, ALL AR15 topics are encouraged and welcome here.

One thing that will not be tolerated are threads about other AR15.com members and pissing matches. You may have noticed there are a few less members this week then last. PLEASE treat members on the board the same way that you would like to be treated.

We do have a General Firearms discussion forum for ALL firearms questions, inquires and discussions.

I want to know how people feel about the off topic threads. Do you feel its a distraction to this forum? Am I blowing smoke out my ass? Would you like the forum to be pure AR discussion? Thanks. It really is a pleasure hanging out here.

You're right; "AR Discussions" is supposed to be for...guess what...AR Discussions! How hard can it be?

I second the motion.

Frank,

I'm with you.  Here's where I come to do my research and listen to the advise of those with more experience.  If I wanted to see a flame war then I'll go over to the General Discussion forum.

Frank, I agree with you. Pissing matches, such as are allowed here, need to be confined to General Disc. Every other forum should be for a calm informational exchange.

I don't mind the slightly off topic discussions, though. They add flavor. What I really find distracting is what other boards do. ANYTHING remotely off topic is moved to a different place. And it's usually a deader place, at that.

Frank, I'd like the "AR Discussion" board to be strictly AR related topics.  I rarely, if ever, visit the "General Discussion" board because I want to read, learn and help others with AR's.

You mentioned that there were a few less members this week...did they leave on their own or were they ejected?  I hate to see people get disgusted and leave because this site has so much to offer.  It's an incredible source of information.  I contribute this site to be the main factor in the reason my saving account is empty [:D] On the flip side, my closet is full of ARs [bounce]

They were ejected for being a distraction to the everyday activities of this forum. They were given a choice of whether to remain distractions or to become productive members of the forum. They chose POORLY.

I'll have to agree with you on this one also.

Maybe we need a Pissing Forum. [;D]

I don't mind an occasional off-topic item if it somehow relates to AR's, but I wouldn't want to see too many. I'd vote to keep it strictly AR's.

And I don't think any of the boards here (General or otherwise) are suitable for "personality contests". People who have a burr under their saddle should take 'em somwhere else--there's lots of junk boards out there that don't care what someone posts.

I believe that if this is an AR-15 discussion forum, then that is what it should only be. That's the whole point of AR15.COM having forums for HK's, AK's, shotguns, etc. [;)]

I'm with you. I'll have to do a better job at moderating. Before I was one, I just tended not to get involved in such discussions, as one, I suppose its sort of a responsibility to do so. Sorry if I've been slacking [:(]

AR discussion only in here, puhleaze!

Well, even though not too long ago, I had a heated "pissing" (even though I was right [+]:D] ) match about Micheal Savage, I have to agree that that kind of conversation needs to be kept in general discussion.

Really it might be best to do away with the "AR15 Discussion" section and just leave all the others, since you pretty much cover everything else in all the other sections.

I agree that we should only talk about AR related issues when in the AR Discussions section, since it only makes sense. If you hae something to say about another topic, would the general discussions page be appropriate?

A "flame war"?
Sounds like a brawl at a gay bar!
