I have a Bushmaster Shorty AK with the standard A2 handguards. Are the Bushmaster M4 handguards double lined like Colt`s?If not are they at least better than the A2 handguards? Thanks

No double shields like the Colt. The shields have two rows of vent holes that do not line up with the vent holes of the handguards. Kinda weird looking because you cannot see into the gas tube area from the top but it does hold up much better then the cheapo standard shorty handguards.

You cant see into the gas tube area with Colt double heat shield handguards either. One thing to note, double heat shields are good to keep the heat off of your hands. But they are bad because the heat stays in the barrel area. Personally, I think the singe heat shield typ handguards with twice as many vent holes (like the Bushmaster) are actually a more functional design.

The new Bushy shortie handguards with the offset vent holes are most excellent...more durably built, and should keep the heat away from you hands for longer...from the injection sprue marks I believe that they are actually made by CavArms...

really if you want the double heat shields then just buy the colt hand gaurds. if you don't then buy the bushy's. it's all up to you. i have the colt m4 gaurds on my m4 and i love em. they will go nicely on a bushy as well. just buy what you want to.
