| Which lower best matches the finish on a JT dist. parts kit? |
|
The Rock River lower is very close in color. The difference being the J&T upper has a satin finish while the RRA lower has more of a flat finish. After wiping oil off the lower a few times, it really blends in well with the J&T upper. Quality wise the RRA lower is awesome (at least the one I have)... went together very easily, functions flawlessly. Has a mag well that allows all mags to drop free. The other lower I have is an Olympic. This doesn't come close to matching (well, one side is close, the other isn't... not a very even finish). In fact, the overall quality seems to be considerably less than the Rock River lower. The mag well is really tight... the fit to the upper has gaps... the pivot and takedown pins needed to be hammered in...etc. Scott |
| honestly, almost any new production lower will just about match in color. look into rock river, olympic, bushmaster, or colt(the latter two costing a lot more). you should also check out this new lower called double star, it is actually made by j&t. the actual double star company is owned by the owner of j&t's wife. so basically it's made by j&t. i haven't bothered to try one yet because i have my own prefferences but i have seen them up close and believe me they are TOTAL mil spec. looks good, well made, and is forged(not cast). made off of colt blueprints. |
