I was thinking about getting the Bushmaster ar-15 video that they offer in their catalog, but wanted some oppinions whether or not it's worth the $19.00. Or does anyone have any recomendations of a better one. I just want a all around how to video of how to assemble one,how each part works and maybe some cool shooting scenes. Thanks for any replies BASE-RIGGER |

I just bought "Mastering the AR-15" by Lenny Magill and Jim Clark. It basically covers, complete dissassembly and reassembly, basic shooting and advanced shooting techniques. It goes over grip, stance, trigger control, loading, unloading and practical shooting positions. It also covered how to clean the AR after shooting. Over all it was very useful for a new owner. Step by step instructions was what I really liked..... The video lasts 120 minutes, but cost me 29.95. I have seen it on other sights for around 24.95. I may even put mine up for sale in the EE forum for half of what I paid. I have watched it 3 or 4 times and I pretty much know it now. Hope that helped.... |

[blue][b] I don't know what the Bushmaster video is like but one you should check out is *Mastering The AR-15* with Jim Clark and Lenny Magill. They go into basic disassembly/reassembly . How to shoot basic and advanced and cleaning & maintenance. The video quality is clear and the information is real good . I really like this video. They let the lead fly too. If your looking for something alittle more on the how to end . AGI offers some of the best How To Video's . No shooting just gunsmithing and how to do it yourself information. The Bushmaster video shows you how to put the AR together, and if you play it in reverse, it'll show you how to take it apart. If you can stay awake through the video, then you'll see about 15 SECONDS of shooting. So save your money. It seems like 'Mastering the AR-15' is a much better video because it sounds like it has a bit of everything. The Gunsight 'Tactical Carbine I' is a very good 50 minute video for AR-15 tactical techniques. It sticks to tactics and doesn't show assembly/disassembly. |

Unless they have done a newer version, it was shot on standard VHS in the late 80's or early 90's as I got mine about 91'. Info is valid - and helpful but the quality of the recording - or at least the tape they send me was marginal. Back when I bought it - it was a good investment, but I'm sure some of the newer materials might be a better value today. |
| I've had mine for quite awhile since around 95-96(the Bushmaster Armorers tape). The production quality is alittle lacking, but good info. I've assembled several AR's from it. It doesn't go into any detail on any kind of problem solving you encounter though. Its a good tape, but I'm sure there are better on the market. I've been thinking about picking up the "Mastering the AR-15" by Lenny Magill and Jim Clark that EVERYONE ELSE here has been raving about. I also like the AGI videos, but I'm gonna get the Mastering the AR-15 because it's available in DVD. Those last forever not like VHS that degrade quickly over time or contact with magnetic objects like the front of the TV screen! [bounce] |
| The guy in the Bushmaster video is a little dopey, but he explains assembly pretty well. It's a little dark, like the one AGI video that I have seen. I know it wouldn't be authentic, but it would do someone good if they are making an assembly video to have the receiver colored white or some contrasting color, so it can be more easily seen how the various roll pins and springs go in. As said, there really isn't any shooting in this video. |
