Ok everyone, I need help. I was going to, well, trying to order a RRA elite tactical ar15 from my gun dealer. He is kinda dragging his butt. Another gun dealer locally just got in a Colt 6601 today. Went and looked at it and it is so nice. The price is about 150 dollars more than the RRA at $925. My problem is this. The RRA has a muzzle break, gas block, removeable front site, A4 hand carry and tactical buttstock. All of which are extras I like. The Colt 6601 has no muzzle break, A2 stock, A1 carry handle. My question would be this, would I be better off with the RRA or the Colt? I am just gonna plink on the range. How hard if I wanted, would it be to add the muzzle breal and tactical buttstock if I wanted? Also, can you mount a scope and will it work well on the A1 carry handle on the Colt? Thanks for help and any ideas........ -Lloyd |

I own a 6601 & it's a tackdriving SOB. Yes, you can put a scope on it. I have a 6x24x40 BSA on mine. As for muzzle brake, there are models out there for post ban barrels but why do you think you need one? Do you honestly think the .223 needs a brake? The Colt will always be worth more money than other brands. I certainly don't regret going with my 6601. |

Thanks for the help.... Bob Cole, thanks for your advice. As for the break, either a break or a fake flash hider, I just like the look. I've never shot an AR15 and I have heard they do not have recoil. I just like the look. knightone, thanks also. And I agree, I think I am gonna suffer and wait on the RRA! Thanks for your help. Have a great day! Thanks again, Lloyd |
| I think you're making the right decision on the RRA. I recently purchased an MT6601C when I "piggy-backed" on a Department purchase. In a short period of time, we've experienced several problems with a number of the rifles. Magazines failed to drop free on several, the result of a mal-formed trigger guard. Recently, the "pinned" muzzle breaks have become dislodged while firing, on several of the rifles. The ones that shoot, shoot well, but I believe some quality control issues exist. |

Thanks TAC2, I appreciate your help. I agree and I have read in a few places about COLT quality issues. If I can just get my gun guy to hurry up! I hate waiting. I asked RRA and they said if I got it ordered this week, I could have it by Christmas. Thanks again, _Lloyd |
