I noticed on my new Bushy M4 upper I received today the front handguard cap has the two square cut outs on the bottom. Is this normal?? My Dpms M4 upper has the full round cap.

The cutouts are necessary for mounting an M203 on the carbine. It's one of those extra Mil-Spec details that most leave out for the civilian market, but Colt and Bushmaster maintain.

Thanks for the info guys. I`ve owned some other rifles in the past with the cutouts but couldn`t remember the reason for them.

Great question. I was wondering the same exact thing about the Bushmaster M4 that I got on Monday.
