| hello I am new here and I want to buy a AR 15 I can get a Colt MT USED in very good shape for $850.00 or do I take that money and but a NEW Armalite or a Bushmaster or a Rock River I need some advice on Quality of these and what should I do |

Chrome lining makes the barrel easier to clean and doubles the life of the barrel. Un-lined barrels are slightly more accurate. This has to do with the uneven nature of the added lining. As far as i know all Colt barrels are chrome lined. As far as which one, it's personal choice and personal habits. How many rounds do you anticipate firing per session. How well and how often per range session do you like cleaning your barrel? The accuracy increase is slight, but to some any increase is desirable. Eventually the barrel may have to be replaced (10,000give or take on the chrome lined, half as many on the non-lined). How soon depends on whether it is lined or not. Once again, your choice. |
| Rock River offers chrome lining as an option (believe it's $35). Bushmaster, Armalite, and Colt have chrome lining standard. DPMS usually does not have chrome lined barrels, although they have been known to make small batches of these for special offers or contracts. You can always call them to see if they have any in stock. Most kits and Olyarms rifles will not have chrome lining. |
