I would like some feedback on which scope would better suit my needs - mounting on an  H&K SL8-1.  I am considering the Tasco SS10 x 42, SS16 x 42, or CU840x56M.  Is the 8-40 x 52 Tactical/target the same optical quality as the SS series?  Will the 8-40 hold 0 as magnification changes?  How do they vary with reguards to eye relief? Also I think that if I can I might try to mount the scope with see-thru mounts so that I can still use the "Iron sights"  Will the 42mm objective lend itself to this application better as I can mount it closer to the top rail? Thanks

Bond,

The CU840x56 is no longer made.  We only have a limited number left.  The TAC840x56 is the unit that has replaced it and is not of the same quality, so forget that one.  An easy way to tell them apart is the CU has a side wheel focus and the tac has an adjustable objective.

Between the CU and the SS, I would pick the SS in a heart beat.  The CU is great but it is very large and heavy (16" and 31.5 ozs.).  There is no way to mount it in "see-thru" mounts.  The CU is more of a benchrest/prairie dog scope.  The SS is better suited for a SL8.  It is considerably smaller and lighter yet still has excellent magnification.  The target knobs are better on the SS and it is a more durable scope.
