Here is my experience with Leupold & Nikon scopes:
Leupold: I own six of them mounted on everything from AR's to LR bolt guns. The only thing I dislike about the variables is that the eye relief changes so much more than other brands when switching power. I bought most of them used or because they were older models off of eBay. Nikon: I do not own any Nikon scopes, but would if I needed a new scope. Nikon's optics are superior in the Buckmaster & Monarch models. I got rid of the one Nikon I did buy (10 years ago?) because the objective end rotated with the AO adjustment, so using Butler Creek scope covers was out of the question. New side-focus models eliminate this problem. Bottom line, the Nikons are a better value. Leupold has changed models & technology about 4 or 5 times in the past 4-5 years. What is up with that? Did they start manufacturing in China? A lot of Leupold's price is buying the name. Stick with the Buckmaster, Monarch or Tactical lines. |
