Looking at getting a 30 cal suppressor in the near future for use on an 11.5" 5.56, 8" 300 Blk, 20" 308, and maybe eventually a 12.5" 308.

Looking for something that meets the following specs:
Max Price:~$1000
Max Weight:~20 oz
Max Length: ~8"
Minimal POI Shift
QD
Max dB reduction

I was looking at the Gemtech One a while back but would like to make the best choice for my first rifle can.  I am now trying to decide between the One, SiCo Omega (can't use on 12.5 308), Sandman S or L (long and heavy), SOCOM 300SPS (556 mount options?), and Rugged Surge (dB reduction).  Which of these do you think would have the best dB reduction across all three calibers?

That's pretty easy actually. The Gemtech is out automatically. It is not in the same league as those others. Gemtech cans meter awful when compared apples to apples. They have made advancements recently but I have yet to see anything that changes my mind on that. The Omega is easily best all around but the SBR 308 may be a problem for this lightweight can. The Sandman cans under perform and are a bit of a disappointment really. I had high hopes for these. The 9 inch can meters about where a 7 inch Omega and SDN-6 are. The Surefire can is hard to get and like all Surefire cans, seriously under perform. Not to mention you lose interchangeable front caps that is pretty much standard on high end cans these days. That leaves the Surge. Having both the 7 and 9 inch can in one is the icing on the cake. This one honestly doesn't need a whole lot of thought. Its my 2 cents worth anyway...

Not many range reports back from the Gemtech so I will stay away from that one unless I hear otherwise.  I was originally looking at the quicksand and it looked like the One could do everything it does but lighter and less $.  Good to hear about the Surefire not being worth it and I figured the Sandman-S was out for being too loud and the Sandman-L is too heavy/long for the dB reduction it gets.  I guess my worry is that the 7.5" configuration for the Surge is that it will not effectively reduce sound like other similar sized cans.  I suppose the Thunderbeast Ultra 7CB could be added to the list but it doesn't seem like it would be the most quiet.  Thanks for the reply and I hope to get more insight/opinions from others.  Looks like it is now between the Surge and Omega.
