I know there is a pretty good price differences between the two, but out of the SWR Specwar 7.62 and the Surefire Socom 7.62rc which one would y'all recommend for an LR-308. I know that QD silcener aren't known for accuracy like a threaded on silcener, but I want the one that is more accurate and has a better lock up. Or are there any other ones you might recommend. Thanks as always.
Both are great suppressors. Personally, I'd go with the Specwar because I'm not a big believer in the theory that you have to spend $1200+ to get a good suppressor. The Specwar has performed beautifully in sound metering tests and is every bit as rugged as the Surefire product. Plus, Surefire hasn't been great about getting mounts to us in a timely manor. I've got more than a few customers who have picked up their SOCOM suppressors and don't have anything to mount them to. Mounts are coming in....I don't know when. My vote: Specwar.
It depends on what your mounting to... For an SBR AR-15, Something as heavy and large as a Specwar 7.62 is kind of unwieldy and detracts from the efforts made to keep the weapon light and compact. For larger platforms though, the Specwar seems to be the real deal. Price/Performance from maybe the most solid and friendly suppressor company. I have a YHM 7.62 Ti Phantom myself because weight was/is more important to me than a few decibels but if the Specwar was on the market at that time, I might have done it differently. I have a Specwar 556 and I wouldn't trade it for anything else in the category. But if your new to suppressors, suppressor weight for any hand held rifle should be 60% or more of your decision. Don't underestimate weight. Out of the 11 suppressors I own so far, Suppressor weight is my area of biggest mistakes. #12 will be decided 70% on weight, 20%performance, and 10% cost.
