What is the length between the muzzle and gas plug on a 12.5" shrike barrel?

Is the length different between the adjustable and non adjustable gas system?

What is the minimum length barrel that provides 2.49" of clearance between the muzzle and gas plug?

I ask because the AAC SPR/M4 suppressor mount I would like to use needs 2.49" clearance between the muzzle and gas block/gas plug.

You should be able to scale off of the OAL and make the measurements needed off of the side view of the barrel.
Is your spacing from the end of the muzzle or the end of the flash hider (i.e. like a Halo that mounts on the flash hider).

Deanh,
I measured the distance from the muzzle to the gas plug on my 12.5" self adjusting barrel and it is a hair under 1 1/4". That's all.

I spoke to ARES on the phone when I was told to call them about my upper, and if I remember correctly what I was told, there is 1.5" between the plug and muzzle on the 12.5" barrel. So that question is answered.

I also learned that the Shrike barrels tapers from the gas block to the muzzle, so if you are planning to mount a reflex type suppressor you might want to find out the thickness of the barrel at the muzzle.

So for now I will be using my Gemtech with bi-lock instead of my SPR M4 with this upper on the standard 16" barrel.

And now that I look at those barrel pictures more closely I can see there is a taper towards the barrel, and then a step up right before the hider. Hopefully at some point in the future ARES will offer a standard profile barrel from the gas block to the muzzle.

Was re-visiting if there was any reason to get the fixed gas system over the adjustable, besides cost.
However the better thread is: Here
