I have a 14.5" carbine gas upper with a pinned GGG folding front sight and pinned/welded brake in place.

I would like to replace the existing rail with an MRF-CX and am wondering if the cut in the upper rail will accomodate this sight and will it still be able to be folded. I am inclined to think the answer to both questions is yes, but?

If you could provide the dimensions of that cut I could most likely come to my own conclusion.

Thanks

Never mind, I downloaded a picture of the rail off of the website and using the addresses on the side compared them to an MRF-R on another gun and measured.

Not a perfect situation for getting dimensions, but if it doesn't work it won't miss by much and I'll "adjust" it.

Thanks for the 20%, rail and covers to my door for $199 is a damn good deal.

I can now answer this question myself with a no, it won't fit. But as I surmised it was close enough that it could be made to fit. The problem occurs when folding or unfolding the sight. When the sight cams out of fixed or folded position the upper front corner of the post just barely kisses the front edge of the cut out in the rail. I removed a miniscule amount of material from this corner with a jewelers file creating a radius that allows clearance. All is good.

Well thanks for the moral support.

I suppose I could/should have just quietly kept that to myself, but in the spirit of sharing and all I thought someone somewhere may share my eclectic tastes and could use that information. If not I haven't wasted much of my life.
