| Hey Joe, I have a Idea for You Guys if this Ban Crap does Happen how about You Talk Marty into Building a Good 1911 I know 1911's are not that Hot right now but if the Ban does Happen they will be Highly Desirable again. And if it is anything like the DD Rifles it would be Awesome!! |
|
I would assume so too but they were in a real struggle a few Years ago after they spent a whole bunch of Money on New Facility's And if the Ban were to go thru I can't help but think how it is going to affect Companies like DD I own 2 DD Rifles a DDM4 V1 and a DDM4 V7 the last thing I want to see is for them to go under if Diane Feinstein gets Her way |

Spanky, this is an excellent suggestion, but I beg to slightly differ. 1911 pistols are among the hottest items out now with quality names being almost impossible to find. Try finding a Dan Wesson Valor, Springfield TRP, or a Les Baer anything. You can occasionally find Kimbers or some models of Sig in 1911, along with a few of the super cheap RIA, but that will be it. If Daniel Defense got into making quality 1911 pistols, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat. But, God willing, I will still be able to buy a DD M4 V7 soon. |

You fellas need to read the bill. Feinsteins bill will ban assault weapons as well as any semi auto handgun with a detachable magazine from what I read. It's all semi auto guns. It also includes any single shot gun that has a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds. |

Yep, here's the "Summary" off of her Website: Summary of 2013 Feinstein Assault Weapons Legislation: Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of: 120 specifically-named firearms Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by: Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds. Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by: Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include: o Background check of owner and any transferee; o Type and serial number of the firearm; o Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint; o Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and o Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration Note: Even "Grandfathered" Weapons need to be "Registered" as NFA Weapons!!! I'd also love to see the list of the 120 specifically named banned Firearms and the list of 900 specifically named firearms that can be used for sporting/hunting purposes. This is nothing more than Gun Registration that History has shown leads to Gun Confiscation". Write your State Representatives and Congressmen/women now to show them you oppose this bill. |
| I'm hoping that there are enough lowers out there that a lot of business like DD could continue making great uppers and handgaurd systems with plenty of customers for a couple decades. If existing lowers and rifles remain transferable that would be all the better of course. |

Monadh I don't think they are as popular as they were a few Years ago, I had a like New S&W 1911 here on the EE for sale and had very little interest in it
I dropped the Price down to 700.00 and still nobody wanted it. I got lucky and sold it locally for 700.00 Springfields seem to sale pretty good there and Kimbers but that's about it. My next 1911 will be a Les Baer,Ed Brown,Wilson Combat CQB or a Nighthawk. That is if DD doesnt start making a 1911 before then |

The tupperware pistols are far easier to find. Brands like Wilson, Nighthawk, or Les Baer are nonexistant in the LGS. if you're lucky, you may find a TRP or a Dan Wesson. I found a DW Valor recently and it is probably the nicest 1911 I have ever seen. Check them out before you buy one. If DD were to get into the 1911 business, I would have to get one just to support homefolks (I am from Georgia). And if it was really good I'd get another one. I am kind of a 1911 junkie that way. |
