I noticed that these two sights differ...

The one with no ladder-stepping is older I think...is that correct? Out of four front sights I have in stock, it's the only one of its kind.

What's the point of the ladder-step? Texturing for thumb grip? Some sort of reinforcement for sight strength? Something to do with visuals?

Thanks.

I believe it reduces glare as there is less flat surface coming straight at your eyes.

I suppose that makes sense...thanks.

The sight on the right with the serrations on the back is our newest revision.  These serve the purpose of reducing glare.  In addition to this change, we are also slowy introducing a new and improved attachment screw.  The new screw is constructed of a harder steel and is salt bath nitride coated.  The shaft is only partially threaded and the OD of the screw has been optimized for maximum engagement in the slot of the Picatinny Rail.  This will signficantly reduce forward and aft play.

Thanks for the info. Might have to wait for the new revision before I buy mine.

Is this new screw something that can be bought and used on the older version of the sights?

Yes, but I don't know what the price tag is on them.  And let me add that the new screws are also compatible with our A1.5 Fixed Rear Sight and Micro Mount.  If you need some replacement screws, Call Bill Bouck at 912-851-3258

Could you post a pic of the old screw vs. new screw for those of us that are unsure of which we have?
