1:10 Twist Rate-

Not just a new rifle,  but a new "brand"...oddly enough,  I get it.

What's crazy is that no one has used that name as a brand before, smart move.

1:10 Twist Rate-

The advantage of the slower twist is less pressure, so hand loads can usually be pushed faster. If shooting factory loads only, I don't view the faster twist as much of a handicap.
It's the same as 5.56  1:7 vs 1:9

I thought that 1/10 was the twist for the 6.8?

Maybe I'm missing something... but what the hell does this have to do with Daniel Defense?

From what I gather (or rather assume) this is DD's new Hunting Rifle brand separated from the DD brand.

Kind of smart to have the Daniel Defense brand for "Tactical" type weapons and the Ambush brand for "Hunting" type weapons.  Although for the average Joe, who doesn't know about the Daniel Defense connection, they will not be influenced by DD's great reputation for Quality and Customer Service. I guess that will be the price paid for having 2 separate brand images. On the other hand if the "Hunting brand" flops it won't necesarily impact DD negatively for the "uninformed" consumer either.

Plus, "Daniel Defense" is not as good of a name for a Hunting Rifle brand as "Ambush Firearms" and certainly better sounding than "Daniel Hunting Firearms" :-)

As an employee of DD, and represenative of Ambush Firearms, I would like to respond with hopefully some useful insight. The decision to make a hunting rifle is something DD has been interested in for several years. With the popularity of the 6.8 as well as its adaptibility to the AR platform, it was an easy choice for our first release. The 1:10 twist rate was released first because we had a customer requesting a large quantity of these barrels. We are also producing 1:11 twist barrels. We ran the 1:10 first because we were already tooled up to fulfill the existing order. The decision to launch a seperate company was made because we did not want to simply throw one hunting rifle into our tactical line up. We are serious about entering the hunting market and bringing the same quality that customers have come to expect from DD on the tactical side, to the hunting community as well. The Ambush 6.8 is only the first in what will be a complete line of hunting rifles. With that said we wanted to dedicate a complete staff and sales force to Ambush Firearms, while utilizing quality parts machined in house by DD. Same quality products, same great customer service. Only a seperate company solely focused on bringing the highest quality hunting rifles to consumers. Other calibers are already in the works with .308 next in line. The complete website should be launched and fully operational in a few weeks, so check in for updates.

can't wait for a DD .308 bolt action or AR-10 style.

I'd take one of each in a tactical style; not so much on the camo.

I definitely want an 18" light wt 6.8 with a 1:11 twist and a 18" or 16" light wt. in .308 with a 1:12

and I wouldn't mind if they were chrome lined
