Steve, I recently purchased a CAR A4 setup for my son.  He wanted to change out the Gas Block Sight Base for a different one and ordered the Light Varmint Gas Block Sight Base.  Both say for they are for the 0.75 barrel, but the Light Varmint Gas Block will not slide all the way on.  I see on the website that a Low Profile Gas Block is an option for the CAR A4 and it is also listed to fit a 0.75 barrel like the Light Varmint Block. Are the gas blocks for different diameters barrels than shown? Thanks in advance.

Nope....750" at the journal.  The problem you may be encountering is the thickness of the manganese phosphate/Parkerizing on the barrel, which translates into a slightly larger diameter just forward of that journal.  For the split/clamping gas block it isn't an issue, but for the non-split blocks there's no "give" to clear it.  Normally it can be persuadedtot go on with a rubber mallet, but it may wear into the finish a little.

We'll take another look at.  Sure looked like a slight milled change in barrel diameter just forward (1/8") of the current gas block.

There is...it drops to .720" a little bit forward of the journal, but the journal itself is .750" and the blocks are just slightly larger than that.

Checked it again last night.  No go.  Barrel journal checks out at 0.754.  Gas block checks out at 0.744. Now I'm sure I can make it work, but before going forward and honing out the gas block or buggering up the barrel finish, I'm wondering if another gas block might be the better choice.

I'm going to have to figure eout what's going on, because neither measurement makes sense (they would make a lot more sense if it were the opposite measurements).
Could you IM (or e-mail me at [email protected]) me with your contact information andany order information you might have on the gas block, serial number of the rifle, etc...?
Thanks.
