LAR8 Block Vice > General Discussions

Does anyone make a vice block for a LAR8 lower??? I have the RRA Upper vice already but can't find a lower.

We didn't make too many of them. Not much demand when we were selling them, so we didn't do a very big run and it took quite a while to move them through inventory.
I'll check on whether or not there is any intention to run more.

I looked for anything in-house...no dice.
Looking into a small production run by a different vendor, from a new material. I don't have costs from them yet.

Brought it up again either last week or the week before. They're on the list of "to dos" for the shop...just keep getting reprioritized below something " more critical"..

I 'm supposed to have them for the 2015 catalog, which is coming up sooner than I want to think about. The machine shop is prototyping all sorts of new product fo rme right now, and the new versiojn of the LAR-8 lower block is one of them.

Just out of curiosity, exactly what would you use a lower vice block for?

It's on the shop's "to do list" and pretty close to the top.
You use them when working on the lower receiver.

Nope. Shop still hasn't run any. I'm on their case about it, but other products keep getting prioritized above it.

I'm outsourcing them at this point.
Our shops have been busy as can be for years, and just as they were catching up, we dumped all sorts of new parts on their plates for 2015, including almost everything for the 1911s. Smaller projects like the LAR-8 block have been perpetually pushed back as a result. So I'm going out of house to get them done.
