I know that realistically the day when I can actually go out and pick up an LAR-47 is nowhere in the near future, but whenever that day comes I do plan on buying one, and a guy can dream/plan his future builds right?

My question is with the obvious fact that certain components of this rifle will be unique to itself and not interchangeable like standard ARs (not complaining, understand the necessity and really like where RRA went with the rifle) what components will be up-gradable and interchangeable, particularly in the gas system?

The reason I ask is because ever since I first saw the LAR-47 my biggest concern has been the compatibility of dirty-nasty-cheap ammo and direct gas impungment.  I have seen what mediocre quality 5.56 will do even in all chromed DGI ARs. (There is a reason The AK and its variants are known for their unyielding reliability, its because they had to be to shoot that nastiness) Will an upgrade to a piston driven system be available? Either as factory option/upgrade, 3rd party kit, or perhaps possible by piecing together the right combination of existing AR piston parts?

I know that firearm cleanliness is closed to Godliness and that most problems can be solved with simple maintenance after each short testing and shooting session and by taking these simple steps we can nearly avoid any issues, but I prefer to hold my rifle to a higher standard than that because there may come a day when it simply is not feasable to break out the rods and brushes every few hundred rounds.  Because situations like that can happen I want a rifle that can survive rough use and I can always depend on to go bang (much like the rival platform this LAR tries to fuse with).

I already have one piston kit manufacturer asking, and the simple answer is that I don't know.
We've tested the rifle a great deal in its to-be-produced versions, and a coupel other, but we haven't taken the time to start dropping after market components onto a new product that isn't available yet.
The receivers and carrier are proprietary.  So are the mag catch (and retantion) componets, trigger guard, etc...No way around that.  Trigger group, furniture, sights, carry handles, etc...are al  standard AR.  A couple of components that I don't recall the details on are the botl and barrel.  I don't know with certainty whether they are or are not cumpatible and cross compatible with other AR-platform 7.62x39 bolts and barrels.  I want to say that they wiill, but I'm not certain and don't want anyone  hurting themselves or blowing up any rifles until I can get an answer one way or the other.

I understand completely that RRA has a lot better uses of resources in the current market than dealing with issues surrounding a rifle that has yet to make it to production on any scale... Personally I like to hope that this "panic" will die down over the next year or two and we will see a market similiar to what it was, and while I cannot find/afford guns, ammo and parts right now I am occupying the time I should be spending building and shooting by broadening my knowledge and theorizing or planning potential future builds.

The idea of a "mostly AR" that shoots AK ammo, takes AK mags, but tons of AR add-ons and is made by a quality company as opposed to hit or miss imports is genius, the operating system is really the only drawback to the design... However it just seems like a major slip up in planning,  kind of like a really nice gor-tex raincoat that doesnt have a hood... That little detailed ends up defeating the purpose...

By the way I would like to say that I can not praise RRA and its representatives here on arfcom enough for the awesome communication and customer service.  I am not even an RRA customer yet and I am getting individual and unique technical answers and discussion from company that I am not even a customer of (yet*).  And in the midst of a market frenzy/overload.

What industry in this world of "to hear these options in English: press one" can you find company reps willing to communicate with a total stranger who is essentially criticizing their product? I have not had anyone from Diamler Chrysler respond to my questions about aftermarket suspension lifts on 2013 Wranglers...

Sincerely, thanks guys and keep it up!

We even have a real live receptionist who answers the phone....about the only time ou'll ever get a recording is when we're not here or of you choose to let it go into the directory...which can be a separate layer of Hell if you get trapped in a message loop.

If one were inclined to switch out the Delta Carbine rail for a KAC URX3.1, would everything work out what with the barrel nut, or is that also proprietary?

Good move ditching the A frame A2 gas block/front site in favor of a railed/low profile gas block.

The barrel nut is a standard AR component.
Furniture should be fully interoperable with other AR furniture.

Nice!  Was hoping to hear that.
