Curious about the weight savings on an LAR-8 Predator HP that will have an A2 stock.
If i pull it and go to an ACE ARFX and then take the free float off and have the machine shop mill out the slots, I think I can get it to about 7.75 to 8 lbs. Has anyone else done any mods to lighten up the LAR8's? After carrying the modified 6.8A4 for deer and coyotes, I was wondering about lightening it up a bit for ease of carry. Steve - any idea on the weight savings? Thanks, Ted I have the standard A2 stocked PHP and I was surprised at how light it was without being unbalanced. For a first AR 7.62 platform, I was expecting it to feel more cumbersome, like my FAL was. That's not necessarily a turn-off since I am biased toward rifles that feel like real rifles when you shoulder them. The only carbine rifle I own would be my FR-8. Technically my G3 would have been classified a carbine as well by length, but it was anything but light weight. Hoot |
