| Just ordered my second RRA rifle. I have had a carbine for several years and it has been a great rifle and thats why i decided to get a NM to use in the service rifle competions. I have never shot in the service rifle matches but I have shot in several other types of matches. Does anyone have any break in suggestions or words of wisdom about the NM? I was planning on shooting the hornaday 75gr BTHP from CMP. Thanks for any input. Looking forward to shooting more matches and just shooting more in general. |

Hey, I picked up an RRA A4 NM about a month ago.
It seems to like 69 and 77 grain SMK 'factory match' ammo. I'm not a good enough shot with irons to tell you if one is better than the other. I've had 5 shot groups you could cover with a quarter. (at 100 yards, more often they are opened up, I have to shoot iron sights left, rather than right handed) As for break in - I went with the factory suggestion for break in, "go shoot" What I really did: field strip & clean - lube - shoot, repeat each for each range trip. (According to the RRA note in the box, the gun was ready to go without barrel break in procedures) |

I can't wait to get her out there! |
| Took it out last weekend and shot in a service rifle match south of Akron Ohio. First leg 200 yds off hand, second 200 yds sitting, third 300 yds prone, fourth 600 yds prone. Beautiful day nice and sunny with a slight wind. Ended up shooting a 683 with 7 X. My off hand was not that good but everything else was good. I had never shot 600 yds before. That was a hell of alot of fun. 29 clicks was kinda wierd to shoot with but my sighter hit the 8 ring and the second was in the X. I had run 200 rounds through it on the friday before the match. First round was 1 1/2 inch to the left out of the box so it didnt take much adjustment to bring her on target. Super impressed with the rifle overall. So glad I got another rock river. Functioned flawlessly. Used the 69 grain privi ammo and worked like a charm. The leather sling also worked out real well as well. I had never used one of those before either. Overall great rifle, great day, great shooting! |
