Everytime I call RRA they say they have no clue on when the Hi-Rise Mounts will come in, that they are out of stock.  Will it atleast be in 2008?

1+ on that.  What the hell is the problem. The whole world is in a slow down for business right now but we have a shortage of products, I don't get it.  I am sure that this is just a investment cast product so should be quick to make.  What's so hard about picking up the phone and ordering 5000 from your supplier and telling them you want it ASAP.  You would think they would welcome the business.  I am about ready to cancel my orders and just get the armalite mount, they are in stock.

Machined extrusions, not castings.

From an e-mail I got  from RRA on Oct 1.

The RRA HI RISE SCOPE MOUNT is currently backordered 30-60 days.

I just really don't understand how this can take so long. How long can it take to make 500 fed ex them to RRA and then work on a bigger quantity?  I just don't get it.

Well...the machine shop doesn't just sit around with their machines idling waiting for us to come up with something for them to do.  Machine time is pretty well obligated months ahead of time and pulling product out of line only puts off something else.  We have rearranged production to move the scope mounts ahead. but we can't move them ahead of everything else.  Some have come in and shipped, while others are at the anodizer and should be back and able to ship shortly.

Thanks for your reply. I am wondering does the production staff work just one shift a day or do you operate you facility on a three shift 24 hour a day schedule?

I would guess they run their shop in the most efficent and profitable way that they see fit.  I am sure they at least load a pallet or two and hit start before they go home, but I would not hold my breath for an explanation of the shift loads.

A $50 mount with a guy working overtime or weekends become a charity batch most likely.

One would think they could make a profit on a $50 item that cost about $1 of raw materials.  Anyway the thing that pisses me off is that I ordered the mount 6 weeks ago online and have not received any communication from them at all on the order.  The only way they could have worse customer service would be to charge my credit card and still give no information or ship the product.

My brother has one on backorder for 4 weeks now also, I strolled in here to see what was going on and saw this thread, so I sent it to him.

It seems to me like all year most of us have been buying a little extra gear and all the AR companies fell behind in the spring and never caught up.

I think it may get silly for the next 6 mos, so I am finished with what I needed, I was a little ahead of the curve and got lucky.  I would expect that mount costs about $15 to produce, FWIW.  But if you push the machines, the tools, or the employees to hard it can cost you a lot more.

Yes it is way over built and could probably be used for 50 cal.   You can not fit a BUIS on with it be aware.

I would much rather have it done right than just done, Hope RRA doesn't feel rushed in any way building the varmit
upper I have on order. If it takes longer it takes longer, that's all there is to it. m2c

Ok the 1" are in production but what about  30mm, I have had mine on order since August.  Everytime I call all I get is a "we don't know" when they'll be in stock.  Anyone have a clue?  I realize there is a run on all things AR but how long?

30mm should be back out shortly.
