How long is the entry buttstock that resembles the A2 buttstock ?

It's 3.25 inches shorter than an A2, so you end up with a length of pull of approximately 10 3/32 inches.

I purchased one of the short entry buttstocks through Brownell's and have installed it on a Bushmaster AR.  Now the bolt/bolt carrier does not retract completely into the buttstock.  When I lock the bolt/bolt carrier to the rear and insert a filled magazine the bolt is forward over the top of the rear portion of the first cartridge.  Pressing the bolt release beavertail sends the bolt forward without picking up a cartidrige.  Failure to feed.

I have checked the buffer - it's the same lenghth as others I have around.

I have checked the buffer spring - it's the same lenght as others I have around.

Any help would be apreciated.

Karl, without seeing a photo, it sounds like you have a rifle buffer (appropriate for full length buffer tubes and A1/A2 stocks) and not a carbine buffer which is required for the shorties.

I'm thinking the same thing....the entry receiver extension is CAR length, and requires the CAR spring and CAR buffer.  Also make sure that you're using the short top screw through the buttplate into the extension...the extra fraction of an inch will really mess things up if it's sticking into the tube rather than going flush with it.

Thank you for the replies, I really apreciate the manufacturer support.

I'll find the camera, take some pics, see if I can figure out how to upload them.

I'm using a short buffer but wonder about the screw mentioned and sling plate installed.

Trying to call RR (planning to ask for Steve) but busy tone.

I'm at (503) 830-7872 if you have time Steve.
