I am sure this has been asked many times, What is the case length of the .458 ?
Deer here indiana can be shot with a rifle bullet but the case length has to be less than 1.625 or so inches.

It would be nice if the case length is that or less so i can slap a upper on my RRA lower.

I don't have the exact info right in front of me, but I do have some loaded ammo, and the case )from rear edge of rebated rim to cartridge mouth) is measuring 1.575ish on my crude little micrometer.  >458 SOCOM is in Cartridges of the World (latest issue) now also, so a little trip to the local bookstore (if you have one, and they have the book on the shelf...I'm spoiled by getting to spend an hour or two each weekend in eithe rBorders or barnes and Noble...I have read more books and especially magazines than I've bought))might be advantageous as well.

1.5750" is the case length for the 458 SOCOM, with the maximum overall cartridge length (with bullet) of 2.250 inches.

This data is taken from a cartridge drawing in the January 2008 Shooting Times magazine.  They cite Teppo Jutsu LLC as the source of the data.

.458 SOCOM has OFFICIAL APPROVAL from IN DNR for use.  As a matter of fact, we built one for the head of the Enforcement Division ....
